Welcome to Bookworks By Helen
Hello, I am Helen McLaughlin. I take pride in being the owner and founder of Bookworks by Helen. My journey has been blessed with 35 years of a loving marriage to an incredible man who has stood by me and supporting every wild idea I pursue.
Together we have been a strong team, always ready to lend a helping hand to each other. We have two amazing daughters, who are not just my children, but also my closest confidantes and dearest friends. Our family has also been blessed with two adorable granddaughters, who have brought endless smiles and boundless love to our lives.
My background is an extraordinary blend of simplicity and wholesomeness. My husband and I embarked on a unique adventure, purchasing an 18-acre dilapidated farm and transforming it into a thriving agricultural haven. We embraced the joys of farming and the satisfaction of knowing exactly where our food came from, cultivating organic meats, produce, eggs, and beautiful flowers. As we developed a successful retail business, selling our harvest at farmers markets, through an online store and a charming farm stand, we learned the ropes of managing every aspect of our enterprise.
Having owned a previous retail store, we knew the vital importance of keeping track of inventory, managing cashflow, financial reports, employees, payroll, purchasing, A/P & A/R, website updates, marketing our brand, prepare for the accountant – whatever it takes to manage the business. Every aspect of the business received our undivided attention, and we were always prepared to meet any challenge that came our way.
When the time came to sell the farm, I knew I possessed invaluable skills and insights that could make a difference in the lives of other entrepreneurs facing similar struggles and obstacles. That realization led me to become a Virtual Assistant and certified in Quickbooks Online.
My passion for helping others didn’t stop there. I extended my services to seniors in our community, understanding the challenges they face in managing their households. By assisting with paying bills, banking, organizing medical bills, balancing the checkbook, reviewing statements, and even sending thoughtful cards and flowers, I offer a sense of relief and organization to their lives. Furthermore, I’ve helped families navigate the complexities of estate paperwork and I’ve been a trusted hand for patients in assisted living facilities, handling online shopping, family updates, helping with emails and online banking.
